Multiscale transport
Conventional bioheat models treat tissue as uniform or porous and lose the interaction with individual vessels — which is where the exchange actually happens.
Explicit and implicit vessels together
Larger vessels are represented explicitly with one-dimensional flow and transport equations. Smaller vessels stay implicit inside the tissue continuum. The two representations are coupled bidirectionally so that energy and mass are conserved across the interface, and so that a vessel large enough to matter is never averaged away.
Validation against analytical solutions and commercial solvers shows where the homogenised approach breaks down — near large vessels, and wherever the vascular architecture is strongly heterogeneous.
